Hamish’s extensive career in private client wealth management, and his accountancy and financial planning background give him a wide range of appropriate qualifications to provide an independent tactical asset allocation, investment and financial advisory service to high net worth individuals, trustees and charities.
Based in London, Hamish joined Abacus in 2002 after a broad career with Merrill Lynch. Over the 13 years he spent with the firm, he worked as an institutional charity portfolio manager and director of private client sales and marketing. From 1998 to 2001, Hamish had responsibility for new business development in the UK, Ireland and certain European and Middle East countries for Merrill Lynch International Bank’s financial consulting service.
He qualified as a chartered accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in 1981 and worked for the firm in Jersey and London until 1984. Hamish then moved to Credit Suisse Asset Management in London where he managed discretionary private client investment portfolios before joining Merrill Lynch in London in 1989. In addition to being a qualified chartered accountant, he is a member of the Securities Institute and holds the Financial Planning Certificate issued by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and the Investment Management Certificate.
Hamish enjoys playing tennis and travel.
