Until June 2002, Alan was a partner at Ernst & Young (E&Y) where he headed up the firm's national share plans practice. During his 30 year career at E&Y, Alan gained wide experience in a number of different roles. He was initially recruited into the tax practice of an E&Y predecessor firm, providing a wide range of tax advice to companies, individuals and trusts but over time this developed into a specialist employee benefit consulting role. Alan first advised companies on employee share incentive arrangements in the mid 1980’s. He was leader of the firm's profit related pay practice from 1987 until its demise in 1996 and in the last 5 years of his career at E&Y he had management responsibility for teams specialising in PAYE/social security, employment law and executive search, in addition to his lead role in share plans.
Alan joined Abacus in September 2002 as a Client Services Director based in our London office. Given his prior experience, Alan is a key contact point for UK based clients and intermediaries and his role also involves business development and staff technical training. Alan enjoys golf, reading and collecting antique glass and art deco ceramics.
