THE Jersey Abacus Swim Team for the 11th Island Games has been selected.
The 14-strong team is Rosie Barrett, Victoria Rebours, Amy Pallot, Ashley Cope, Katie Speller, Sarah-Jane Smith, Jay Bichard, Daniel Halksworth, Damien Bouchere, Simon Le Couilliard, Alexis Militis, Liam du Feu, Stuart Black and Ian Black. The team ranges in age from 15 to 24 years old.
Team management includes Steve Toudic, team manager, Jacqui Hawkshaw, assistant team manager, Paul du Feu, coach and Keiron Bowbrick, assistant coach.
Steve said he had high hopes for the team when they take part in the event in the Shetland Islands from 9 to 16 July.
"We have a very strong team and they are all very excited to be taking part. We hope we will do Jersey proud," Steve said.
It is the fourth games for Alexis who is also the men's captain and the third games for Rosie who is the ladies captain, Liam, Daniel, Damien and Simon. Ashley, Amy and Victoria have taken part in two games. There are five new swimmers to the games with brothers Ian and Stuart, Jay, Katie and Sarah-Jane.
13 of the team members are regular swimmers with AIB Tigers while Kate is from the Jersey Swimming Club.
Abacus Financial Services Group has been supporting the swim team for over 8 years.
Chief Executive Huw Bolle-Jones said the strength of the team and the excitement surrounding the Island Games would ensure a memorable experience for the swimmers.
